chi ne ha piu ne metta! The Victorian Age was a time of progress and challenges. On one hand, there was the Industrial Revolution, and social reforms. But there was also poverty, injustices. The Victorians believed in certain values to fight these problems. They emphasized duties, hard work, respectability, and charity. These values were embraced by all classes, not just the upper and middle classes. Working hard was seen as crucial for progress. During the Victorian age we had a patriarchal family, with the husband being the main figure. Women played a crucial role in child education and managing the household.Also we can see that the society was based on patriarchal ideals because unmarried mothers often were considered fallen women. Also the rapid industrial development led to a shift in the population towards urban areas, resulting in overcrowded towns and numerous challenges. Thats how Britain became a nation of town dwellers, with half of the population living in towns by 1851.
